Thirlmere Aquaduct Bridges

The preparation and painting of the famous Thirlmere Aquaduct Bridges was undertaken through the difficult conditions of a Lake District Winter! Preparation was by means of shot-blasting with geo-textile sheeting being used on scaffolding to ensure no rust or paint particles fell into the river below. A specialist moisture curing paint system was used that ensured painting could continue even in conditions of higher levels of moisture. All painting was overseen by a paint inspector employed by the water authority.

Country House with Holiday Lets (Penrith)

This country house with holiday lets had to be completed 'out of season'. Snow and other inclement weather conditions had therefore to be contended with and specialist micro-porous/flexible paint systems had to be utilised to ensure successful completion of all external surfaces. Pliolite based masonry paints also had to be used to enable this work to continue through the winter months.

Morecambe Stone Jetty

The famous Morecambe Stone Jetty had to be shut off to enable shot-blasting of cast iron railing posts to take place prior to painting with specialist coatings designed to inhibit corrosion of steel found in salty environments. The biggest problem we found though was that during high spring tides, the railings and posts gained a salt-water soaking twice a day, every day! This proved difficult to combat. In addition to the Stone Jetty more than a mile of other railings and posts also had to be prepared and painted. Again with specialist coatings designed to inhibit rust and protect steel in salty environs.
